Kate is a Registered Mental Health Nurse (UK and NZ) who has specialised over her 22 year career in holistic approaches to mental health and wellbeing. This has included: training in natural medicine and nutrition, addiction medicine and mindfulness. She has facilitated psycho-educational groups, case managed and has been a mental health educator for the last 18 years. She has worked in a number of settings including DHB, NGO and private practice. She has provided educational groups to both the general public, workplaces and health professionals. Currently she works for Christchurch City Mission providing The North Canterbury AOD Service for adults.
Kate has a passion for ongoing professional and personal exploration and development, especially focusing on the interrelationship between cutting edge science and ancient wisdom.
Kate undertook MBSR teacher training with Openground in 2013 and continues to train regularly in Mindfulness teaching. She has also done training in ACT and is a Certified yoga teacher.
Kate lives in rural North Canterbury and is passionate about offering professionally led evidence based mindfulness courses to the rural population. She teaches MBSR in Rangiora and offers a range of mindfulness workshops, courses and retreats to groups and workplaces as Mindfulness North Canterbury

Registered teachers have taught at least three rounds of the program and have completed basic requirements of the Level I and Level II MTI training pathway, but are not yet certified.

Certified teachers are given certification when they have taught many rounds of the course, attended several silent retreats and their teaching has been rigorously assessed using video/audio submissions.
