Openground Gravel Path With Setting Sun

Jan Haworth

Certified
Jan first came to mindfulness when undergoing treatment for cancer. She was offered mindfulness as a tool for coping with the physical, emotional and psychological pain that comes with a serious illness. Jan soon found the benefits of mindfulness extended way beyond simply a coping strategy, and found it so transformative across her life she was inspired to become a teacher and share mindfulness with others.

Jan now runs mindfulness courses for doctors, nurses and non-clinical staff in hospitals across Counties Manakau District Health Board. Alongside this, she runs MBSR courses for the general public, and has a particular interest and expertise in working with people with cancer and other physical illnesses.

Jan is a long time student of Iyengar yoga, and has extensive knowledge and qualifications in holistic nutrition, health coaching, positive psychology and preventive health. In addition to her mindfulness work, she works with individuals to support them in living healthier lives. She also developed Life 2.0 - a group course that provides knowledge, skills and support to help people move forward after cancer treatment in a positive and productive way.

She is co-director of Mindfulness Aotearoa delivering mindfulness in Health care and other organisational settings.

Registered teachers have taught at least three rounds of the program and have completed basic requirements of the Level I and Level II MTI training pathway, but are not yet certified.

Certified teachers are given certification when they have taught many rounds of the course, attended several silent retreats and their teaching has been rigorously assessed using video/audio submissions.
